After the disappearance of the rear roofbox on the RT3 body, it was not long before the front roofbox was also removed on its successor, the RT3/1. The cab remained unchanged on the RT3/1 but the blind box was modified to a more familiar 3 bay layout and a route number blind was added below the canopy, which now had a thin 'valance' or overhang. The body was mounted on the shortened 3RT chassis with the revised fuel tank. Country buses began to receive RT3/1s in November 1948 and RT1045 was one of nine delivered to Watford High Street in December 1948
